Nathan Serafin

Research Analyst

Nathan is a Los Angeles-based planner dedicated to transportation safety, environmental justice, and transit-oriented development.

Nathan is a research analyst who previously served as a transportation intern for Councilmember Mike Bonin and as an intern for the Safety and Training Department at Santa Monica Big Blue Bus. In both positions, he communicated with public agencies as part of his research on best practices to improve street safety and public transportation. While pursuing his bachelor’s degree in Society and Environment at UC Berkeley, Nathan concentrated in environmental policy and studied how communities are affected by local food systems and environmental injustices. As part of a leadership program at the university, he traveled to various organizations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area to volunteer on urban farms in low-income communities while facilitating a student-led class on food justice. He received his Master of Arts in Urban in Regional Planning at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs where he concentrated in transportation policy and focused on sustainability and social equity.
